TroubleShooter - Pay problems

Posted:

They're supposed to help save lives but now some lifeguards need Fox 4's help to get money that's owed to them. Several lifeguards who used to work at the Town of Fort Myers Beach community pool say they haven't received their last paycheck and it's been more than two months.

Donovan DeLoach is a lifeguard who's drowning in a pool of problems.

"We really don't understand why we aren't being paid and why we aren't at least getting some sort of notice about when we're going to get paid," said DeLoach. Donovan used to work at the Fort Myers Beach community pool. Now he tells me he and around ten others haven't been paid for more than two months.

"We just simply want our paychecks," said Donovan. Donovan contacted me and I went to Fort Myers Beach Town Hall for answers. Turns out Fort Myers Beach hired a company called Aquatic Management, Inc. out of Georgia to manage the pool and Town Manager Jack Green tells me AMI was supposed to pay the lifeguards.

I tried calling AMI but I never got a call back and it's been several days. Now Donovan and his co-workers are trying to stay afloat. The Town of Fort Myers Beach tells me it's also trying to push AMI for answers.
