Police: thieves targeting dealerships

Associated Press - June 28, 2009 11:04 AM ET

STUART, Fla. (AP) - Police are searching for thieves who are stealing wheels and tires from auto dealerships in South Florida.

The Stuart Police Department says about $6,500 worth of tires, rims and wheels were recently stolen from a local GMC Pontiac dealership. Police spokesman Sgt. Martin Jacobson says employees at the dealership reportedly found wheels missing from two SUVs.

Police say the thieves also hit a Ford dealership earlier this month.
