Isolated showers will try to work their was ashore during the morning hours before drying up for the noon hour. We will have some passing clouds throughout the morning as well before we see our usual increase to the clouds for the afternoon. The mercury is taking off for the low and middle 90s, but our heat indices will top out at 100-110. Heading into those late afternoon hours, isolated thunderstorms will begin developing inland while the coast remains mostly sunny. Our steering winds are very light at the time, so those isolated, inland thunderstorms will drift slowly to the southwest towards the coast. Those thunderstorms are not expected to be able to make it all the way back to the Gulf, so there would only be a slight chance of any rain to the west of I-75 today.
Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop inland on Saturday as well as Sunday as the heat and humidity continues to linger in Southwest Florida. Because our steering winds are going to remain light from the northeast on Saturday, much of the rainfall should remain inland. It is looking like our mid level winds will start to pick up from the east on Sunday, so there will be a better chance of see those inland thunderstorms reaching the coast of Southwest Florida.
Our overall pattern next week will have thunderstorms approaching Florida from the east, drifting across the state and ending up moving through Southwest Florida. Our daytime highs will continue to reach the lower and middle 90s and overnight lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Tropics: there are a couple of waves slowly moving through the tropics. It does look like the environmental conditions around the tropics will favor some strengthening of those waves next week. We'll continue to keep a close on the Atlantic and Caribbean; look for those updates on air and online.
Have a great weekend.
